Session 5

May 17th, 2009 BetmoPoker 2 comments

SG, 10 seats 15000 chips in total. Starting chipcount: 1500.

Okey. Play fewer hands it is. Didnt start to well, but won some chips after a 400 chips lose hand.

Back on square. Chipcount: 1500.

Slow table. No action here.

Catching some really bad cards. Haven’t played for a while now… Blinds at 50/100. 7 Players left.

People are raising pretty often right now… Not a good time to play bad cards. Still at 1540 chipcount! Ony 6 players left.

Incredible bad cards. The only goods cards I’ve got is AK the whole game.

Lol! Lucky as hell! Got tired of waiting (not good) and called a all-in with A2. He had A10, but I got the straight :) . Very lucky there… A bad call in theory. Chipcount 2800.

Only three left!  I earned the money. But am the small stack now. Have to get good cards now or am out! Blinds at 150/300.

Finished third after some bad luck. All-in with A7 against J10. Four clubs showed up and I lost to a flush. I even got a Pair of Aces, but it was at the river and wrong color. Good call, bad luck.

Summary: I must say with the cards I got, a third place was really good. Not many goods hands there, I can actually only recall AK as a really good hand. Other then that I mostly got QK/JQ/KJ kind of hands and A with low kicker. Hard to play these cards against aggressive players in the end and a big field in the beginning.

Results right now, 6 games:
Won: 2
Second place: 1
Third place: 1
No payout: 1
Price money: $300

Any thoughts on this session?

Session 4 – SG

May 17th, 2009 BetmoPoker No comments

SG, 10 seats 15000 chips in total. Starting chipcount: 1500.

Aggressive table!  Always aggressive play in the beginning. Maybe this could be used a little better from my part in the beginning, slow play only good cards for example. -200 chips right now.

Lost an all in… only 800 chips left. What a lucky one I ran into, as I stated above slow play this table should be right. Hit a Jack with jack high on the table. Checked, the other guy raised to 180, I went all-in and he too. He only had a Pair of 8:s (one was in the table). What happend? Well, another 8 showed up (turn) and I lost. Did everything right there, but lost anyway.

Looking for some strong cards to go all-in with, chip count 850. All players left.

All-in with JJ Pre-flop, against three players and won! My 850 became 2865. Another Jack showed up, some luck at last. Back on track.

Won a 2,650 pot. Got AK preflop and raised to 300 (blinds at 100). One called. A two pair showed up on the table that no one hit and I raised lot. He called and didnt have an Ace…

Lost an 5420 pot…. Up and down here. A very strange hand indeed this. Look at this (click for full size, am Perjalop not Betmo here):
crap-full-house-poker

I went all-in with a two pair there, Jacks and king on flop. Maybe a bad call… But thought I won when I saw the flop. I also had a much stronger hand pre-flop. Crap… Back with low stack.

Won a small all-in, 2200 chip count. Still going strong :) .

Robbing blinds. So fun :) 150/300 is the blinds right now. 2930 chipcount.

Lost 1000 chips after bad play. Went to far with a big blind call. Chipcount 1800.

Blinds stealing and a small all-in won. QQ against 23. Lol, he had 6% to win that! Chipcount 3095. Man this is going up and down.

Blinds at 200/400. Very close Chipcounts. The blind stealing be important.

Crap! Lost 1000 a hand and 600 went with blinds before that. Catching bad cards right now… Chipcount 1700. Need good cards right now or am out.

Got 77 with big blind, perfect. Called all-in against a guy who rasied all-in like four times in a short period. He had KK… Not much to do. Finished 5 out of 10.

Summary: I played to many hands. To much action up and down. On the other hand I had some really bad luck here against some much weaker hands all in. So okey play, but I need to do some things better until next session. Any thoughts on this session?

Between hands posts

May 16th, 2009 BetmoPoker No comments

Playing right now, and trying to keep record. SG, 10 seats 15000 chips in total. Starting chipcount: 1500.

Just won 500 chips with a three of a kind, it was three clubs on the board so I placed a pot size bet (500). 1770 chips right now.

Won an all-in situation. My hand: 88, his hand AQ. Lucky one there. He didnt raise pre-flop so I raised to 300 (100 buy-in), another guy folded on that. After my bet he went all-in. It didnt feel very well, middle pocker pair only. But as this was in the beginning of the game and he had only called just before, it seemed alright (it was for all his money, around 1500 chips). Chip count: 3830. 7 players left, blinds at 200. So far, so good!

5 players left. Gained some chips from stealing blinds, 4530 chips right now. Chipleader with 200 difference.

4 players left. Soon Pay out…

Another all in won! Keep getting great cards, first AA then after that KK. Didnt get much with the AA even as I slowplayed them. The KK did produce a all-in from another player with AK I think. The third player went out pretty fast after this so am writing this after the heads-up.

Heads-up again! Third in a row now… But this opponent was much more skilled then the other two was. The chips count was even, and I lost… So a second place. Lost on a 77 against his A8… So it was a close heads-up. After that I only had 3000 left and the blinds was at 600. Went all in after some hands with A7 and he had A8…

It was a okey tournament, but I should have won heads-up. I use to be good at that, but I let the coin flip and then it’s all about luck.

Two first places out of two

May 16th, 2009 BetmoPoker No comments

Played two Sit & Go $20 tournaments today and won both! $100 in price money in total. Had some crazy cards and hit a ROYAL STRAIGHT FLUSH in one of the tournaments (first one in years). The last tournament had a really mixed field with fast knock-outs in the beginning, 4 players went in the first 10 min (full game 1,15 h long). When we where like five left I knocked two people out with a three of a kind I slow played. Both went all-in, one with a crap pair and another with a high pocket (I think). Slowplay cards is the shit :)

After that I was really in command and never lost it, had always more then half the stack. The heads up was over pretty fast, the other players was a tight player which didn’t like my aggressive bets :) .  Anyway, with the cards I was dealt this was good win as I played well obviously.

Poker Odds & Probability

January 12th, 2010 BetmoPoker Edit No comments

In the sport of poker, winning is very difficult. I will give the odds and probability in the game of poker, by single played hand, and the use of a fifty two card deck. As knowing them is important. The odds and probability are computed by the calculation of the proportion of hands that are a certain type, amongst all possible hands. The odds are as follows: Hand type: Royal flush, Approximate odds: 649,740 : 1 ; Straight flush, 72,193 : 1 ; Four of a kind, 4,164 : 1 ; Full House, 693 : 1 , Flush 507 : 1 , Straight 253 : 1 , Three of a kind 45 : 1 , Two pair 20: 1 , One pair 2.36 : 1 ; no pair 1.995 : 1

Many people play poker in a social setting, some with chips for denominational representation and monetary exchange, or simply nostalgic reason or decoration. In some locations such as in casino or other playing establishments poker chips and the odds of probability are really put to the test. Playing poker in these setting can be very entertaining as there are often beautiful women and large monetary reward to succeeding on the game table. There are often free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages distributed at these events and gaming locations. Security guards and security cameras are often highly present, but when there are thousands upon thousands of dollars involved with each flip of a card, that can be expected.

Finding free poker can be rather difficult, as there is no method of collecting prize money payable at the tournament or game hands conclusion. This is usually done and collected from the accumulation of perhaps a collected entry fee from every poker game entry member. Nonetheless, playing free poker between friends can be fun. The cards are the same, and as the joker, wild cards, are not often played in the casino style poker game format free poker can be more entertaining. This is still a competitive game, even without the monetary reward element. Many times beginner begins their tenure into the poker game arena as free poker players. The strategies and hand rankings are the same. Playing online poker is a convenient way to get one's gambling fix. It has also become a lot more social with players chatting to each other through Live Chat. Beginning and novice players can learn patience and the art of bluffing in this game format. These are two very important tactics used in the game of poker.

Poker tournament(s) are the most exciting games on the planet. There can be games that last for hours into the night, or ones that last for just a few hours. All is dependant on the players and the emotions and attitude toward one another on the table. Often times these poker tournaments have a crowd of spectators enjoying the event. This is an interesting element since it is an indoor and great concentration for some players during some of these tournament games. It is also very interesting to see the many different players entered into the tournament. These players are all focused for the large final game prize. If the tournament is of large number and participants the game locations can be separated or the tournament can be held over more than one day.

To learn poker and online poker, takes time. Some individuals may pick up a general liking of the game and try very hard at winning at poker in the beginning of their play. But, being hurried in the game, is one of the most common downfalls. Play this game with emotion or impatience and you will be the observer. That is a given probability.

Poker Rooms

January 11th, 2010 BetmoPoker Edit No comments

There are number of qualities to look for in a online poker room, especially if you are looking for cash games. Qualities to look for include the number of players on the site, the variety of games and the deposit bonuses offered to players. By knowing these simple stats, you can determine which site fits your needs.

For those that are beginners, consider playing at PartyPoker. Although this site has less fish than it use to when it accepted U.S. players, there are still plenty of players donking off their chips at an alarming rate. With smooth software that enables players to focus on their game, PartyPoker.com provides a fun gaming experience that lets a player get solid value for their hard-earned money.

If you are a more experienced player, the PokerStars might fit your bill. Accepting players from across the globe, Pokerstars typically has over 100,000 players at almost any given time. This means there are plenty of punters willing to push their chips in the middle at the drop of a hat. Since you will be facing players from all over the world, there are plenty of chances to exploit weaker players because the sport is still new in a lot of the places that Pokerstars promotes to.

If you are a shark and you want to play with the big boys, then FullTiltPoker has what you are looking for. Featuring the biggest limits on available on the Internet, Full Tilt attracts many of the game’s elite thanks to high stakes the site offers. Although FullTiltPoker.com is known for its “big games,” there are plenty of smaller games going on a regular basis. Despite having fewer players (on average) than Pokerstars, there is a higher concentration of good cash game players on this site because it offers a large variety of formats.

Tournament Poker Fundamentals

August 13th, 2009 BetmoPoker Edit No comments

Tournament poker can be a great deal of fun, I play it all the time. As a tournament progresses and blinds grow, luck plays more of a role. Even skilled players cannot win every time, but there are some fundamental approaches I take to the game to improve chances of winning.

Early on, Tight Is Right

It's a fundamental truth in tournament poker that you can lose a tournament in the first round, but you can't win it. Keep this in mind. There's no good reason to commit a lot of chips in the first round or two of a tournament without a monster hand. The blinds are so small that they are not worth risking a lot of chips to win. Play conservatively, observe your opponents and try to gather information for use in later rounds when the blinds are big and the pots are more valuable.

Bubble Play

As you approach the money bubble, you will have to make a decision. Are you going to try to sneak into the money or go for a big chip grab? If you have a lot of chips, the bubble is the perfect opportunity to pick up more. Many poker tournament players with medium stacks won't want to tangle with you because they don't want to get knocked out right before the money. If a small stack calls you, it won't hurt you that much. But here player information is very important, don’t call with a weak hand if your opponent have folded a large amount of hands recently.

Final Table Play

At the final table, you may find that everyone's stack is small, relative to the blinds. If this is the case, it is a good time to make a deal and chop up the prize pool.
The fairest way to do this is according to chip count. If deal making is not allowed or if someone doesn't want to, play on and don't be afraid to get those chips in the middle. You've gone as far as your skill can take you and now it's in the hands of the poker gods. Either way, making the final table is quite an accomplishment.

Hunting Poker Bonuses

July 31st, 2009 BetmoPoker Edit No comments

Poker bonuses is really something I haven’t look through. I like playing at the same site. Anyway, I’ve started to look around and see what I can make out of it. Here’s what I’ve learned.

The most common kind of bonus is a deposit bonus, which you receive based on a portion of the money you deposit. Make sure you realize when you login to your account that the bonus isn’t going to be immediately added to your deposit. Most bonuses have to be cleared based on hands played or the amount of rake you pay to the site. Some sites have better bonuses for players who play in tournaments versus those who play in cash games. Each bonus is a little different so be sure you research facts about each individual site before you make your final decision. Some bonuses are unable to be cleared at all by playing in tournaments and work by how many cash game raked pots, or pots that reach a certain size. A great way to learn poker and be sure to (be sure) get something back from it (atleast).

Most poker online sites allow you to keep track of how far you are in clearing a bonus and may release the bonus all at once, once you’ve cleared the bonus you are free to cash it out or use it to continue to play on a site as you please.

Every online poker site offers its own separate bonuses and one of the best ways to build up your poker bankroll is to take advantage of as many bonuses as you can. If you are always clearing a bonus it's much harder to lose because of that free bonus money that is released as you play.
